Lopinavir, a protease inhibitor is formulated in combination with a low dose of another protease inhibitor, Ritonavir for an effective medical management of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). Both can help children above the age of 2 years, adolescents and adults, in blocking the HIV to replicate itself in blood. Ritonavir increases the half-life of lopinavir and thus boosts the effect of Lopinavir.
